Well, that was the case at our very own voting party. My writing students finished their papers, which were very persuasive. We were all convinced McCain was the man for the job! (Unfotunately America did not...)
All five of the students did such a great job, I couldn't just post one paper. Below you'll see the papers that they wrote after careful research, organization and lots of hard work!
An Obamanation to America
by K. K., 8th grade
America is in search for a new President, and to vote for Barack Obama would be a disastrous decision. First of all, Obama is etremely inexperienced, and has only been in the Senate for about two years. Being unaccomplished and inexperienced, means he will most likely make damaging decisions for America. This also means he will make decisions that he thinks are important, but not in the best interest for America. Another reason not to vote for Barack Obama, is because he believes in Socialism. This means as president that he plans on dividing the money that people work hard for among everybody, including people who are to lazy to work. By doing this, people who work hard won't get to keep the money they earn and deserve. There are several reasons why we shouldn't vote Barack Obama into office, but the main reason is, he is not the right President for America.
Not Obama
by J. T., 6th grade
I would not vote for Barack Hussein Obama for two main reasons. First, he is a consistent supporter of all kinds of abortion. It's wrong to kill a baby, especially after it has been born. Barack Obama, speaking to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund, on July 17, 2007, states, "The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedome of Choice Act. That's the first thing I'd do." Another reason I would not vote for him is because he approves of same sex marriage. Same sex marriage is an atrocity and is sinful in the sight of the Lord. If a man always married a man, and a woman always married a woman, the world's population would be no more. Some of Obama's beliefs are an "obamanation" to God and that is enough for me not to vote for him.
Palin vs. Biden
by E. K., 6th grade
There are many differences between vice presidential candidates Governor Sarah Palin and Senator Joe Biden. First of all, Governor Palin protects the rights of people in need. Fore example, she is agains abortion and paying higher taxes. She will also help people with special needs children. Next as a Christian I do not share the same beliefs or values as Senator Joe Biden. For example, he thinks a woman should have the right to choose if she wants to have an abortion or not. He also thinks paying higher taxes is patriotic; serving your country is patriotic, paying higher taxes is not. That is why I have chosen to vote for Governor Sarah Palin over Senator Joe Biden.
Vote for John McCain
by A. K., 5th grade
In this paper I will tell you two reasons why I believe John McCain would be a great president. John McCain served our country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He showed courage during that timme while he was tortured for five years because he wouldn't tell the enemies our Nation's secrets. Another reason John McCain would be a great president is because he knows what people in the ilitary need. He has experience in making tough decisions that will protect are troops and our country. If I were old enough to vote these would be reasons why I would vote for John McCain.
Vote for McCain 2008
by G.T., 4th grade
Here are two reasons you should vote for Senator, John McCain as our next President. First, he does not approve of abortion and neither do I. I don not agree with abortion because it is killing babies. Next, he is willing to drill for more oil right here in the U.S.A.. What that will do is provide more jobs and give Americans more money. Those reasons sound good to me, I hope you agree.
