Growing Up

Yesterday was Thomas' last day of pre school.  Looking back at pictures, it's crazy to see how much he has grown up in this school year.

Bike-a-thon

Thomas has love pre school this year.  He's loved his friends, learning and recess.  He loves feeling like a big kid and doing big kid stuff.  The experience of being away from home really has matured him.  He just seems so much older as we get closer and closer to the end of the year.  I can't believe he's just weeks from being a kindergartner!!

As the year wraps up, the school does their last big fundraiser, a bike-a-thon.  All the kids bring their bike to school decorated, a police officer comes to teach on bicycle safety and then the kids ride around in a circle for 20 minutes.  It was pretty entertaining to watch.  Some of the kids learned to ride on 2 wheels, just for the event, some are pros and speeding around everyone (you can see the macho guy stuff already).  One kids chain kept falling off, so he just ran a few laps.  Thomas' pedal came off.  Some were on scooters keeping up with the bikes!!  All in all it was just plain fun and a day I'm sure Thomas will remember when he thinks back on pre school!!

Benjamin came along to watch.  We brought his scooter just in case.  He so desperately wanted to be a big kid.  He got to do a little next to his big brother, but otherwise he stuck close to Grandma and me.  (You should see him go, he's the fastest 1 and a half year old i've ever seen!!)

The boys switched vehicles for a little after Thomas' pedal fell off.  Check out his bike, he wanted a Star Wars themed bike.  With Daddy's help, they attached his mini-light saber and drew some cool guys.  He loved it.

Pajama Day at Pre School

Thomas is loving pre-school and I'm loving it, too.  Benjamin and I get our special time and even better, I get to see the joy of exploring life through Thomas' eyes.  He is making friends, learning letters, counting, story sequencing and just growing like a weed.  It's so much fun to watch him get smarter and see more and more of his personality!

I could see so much of it by the pajama's he chose to wear.  As soon as he heard he'd get to wear pj's to school (back at the beginning of the month) he knew right away what he would wear.  He pulled it out and set it aside.  Yep, this is his non-outfit!
The transformer top is a hand-me-down that came without bottoms.  It's his favorite.
He informed me that he chose it because, "i think my friends will think it's cool!"
(oh how soon it starts!)
He picked these bottoms just because he liked them, he told me he didn't care that they didn't match at all.  Then to top it off, ToyStory slippers and doggie blanket for a robe.  Yep, that's an outfit all right!

 (aren't they cute!!!)

(cheeseburger face, I just had to share!)

He had a great time at school in his pj's.  They did "snow" stuff, watched a movie, had hot chocolate and ate bagels.  I checked out a few of the other kids in their jammies.  Yep, they were all matching, cute, clean and perhaps bought just for the day...

Thomas' First Day of School

Here they sit, all ready for some cozy time before Thomas heads off to his first day of school. He came running out of bed excited to announce that he was going to school. That excitement lasted all morning and thankfully all the way into the classroom. Here he is, back-pack and all!! He picked out his shirt and Old Navy just for this very day. (Doesn't B look already to go as well!)

Here he is walking onto the campus, looking like a big boy!

Thomas is in the yellow room with Miss Tiffani and Miss Patty.
We got to spend the morning hanging out in the classroom with him. We checked out the toys, the play dough and the sand table. Then the parents left for an orientation and came back and met them at the playground just 45 minutes later.
Thomas loved it and was more than ready to head back wednesday, friday and lots more, he informed us. The reality of this didn't sink in for me until friday when I dropped him off and then had to figure out what B and I were going to do for three hours. We managed, but sure did miss him. I'm back to talking to a little guy that can't respond!
