Christmas Celebrations

This year Christmas celebrations spread from Wednesday to Sunday. With lots of driving, never very far, and lots of excitement, we are glad to be home. Christmas is such a wonderful time of celebrating our Savior and our family. I look forward to it every year. This year was different with Thomas so excited about everything.

As I said, it began on Wednesday with a drive to Roseville to be with my family for two days. It was great. Wednesday was spent relaxing and with a little bit of preparation. After dinner that evening, we went on a tour of Christmas lights in Roseville and Rocklin. Thomas loved it! He pointed out every Snowman and loved all the dancing lights. We went through two blocks that were amazing. Every (well almost) house was decorated with tons of lights and wood cut-outs of Disney characters or another animated friend. There were several nativity scenes, lots of trains and even the leg lamp from "A Christmas Story." One of the favorites was a house handing out hot chocolate with a sign that said "No Democrats allowed." It was pretty funny!

Grammy couldn't go to bed with out Thomas opening at least one present, which of course thrilled Thomas. It was a truck, "his favorite" he informed Grammy. Oh boy, we couldn't wait until the next night!!

On Christmas Eve, we started the day with homemade Cinnamon Rolls!! Finally, they rose and even tasted yummy! (I've tried, unsuccessfully for several years now) Mom was home from work all day, unfortunately because she was still sick, but this allowed for all day celebration. Audra and Ross joined the excitement just after lunch. Food prep began and we were eating by 2. Dad made an awesome Prime Rib and I helped him with Twice Baked Potatoes - delish! We finished and then the present opening began!!

Thomas could hardly stand the excitement!! He loved everything he opened and gave out lots of hugs and happy smiles. He was thrilled when he opened his froggy boots from Grammy and Papa. He put them on right away!
By far, his favorite was the Buzz Lightyear wings he received from Auntie & Umple. He had to put them on immediately and then spent the next 30 minutes running back and forth. They are now a part of our daily life.

We loaded up the car after dessert and headed home. Thomas was asleep after his final sugar rush came to an end. He had been singing and excitedly pointing out every light. Then, snoring!

We would be home to sleep, open presents and a little more packing!
