Christmas at the Matlock's

I love Christmas decorations!  They were down and up as fast as they could be.

This year I added a new sewing project to the list of things to-do, thanks to a friends fun find online.  A tree skirt!  I chose 4 fun prints and sewed away!! I'm even making one for my sister and if you know us well, you know that is quite backwards!!

I've collected snowmen and trees over the last couple of years and spread them all out over the fireplace hearth.

Last year, my mom passed on the family nativity scene.  I'm loving having it in my home and seeing how excited to boys are to check it out.

Of course, you can't forget the stockings.  Our fireplace is out of commission and behind the TV, so we got as close as we could!

Yes, more projects

*** 3 more days left to enter the giveaway. Scroll down to 1 post! ***

Projects seem to come in phases around here. I guess we (yes, mainly I) seem to get in the mood to get somethings cleaned up and get busy. This first project is one I've been wanting to do since we moved in, but just never gotten around to doing it. But alas, no more gross 80's faucets for us!! Check out how ugly it was!!

Wouldn't you agree, this is much, much better! Thanks babe for surviving a couple of days with a sore back for this much prettier faucet!

Next, is a project I tackled with my dad. Jared and bought this hutch when we bought our condo about 4 years ago. We got it for super cheap and it matched our table and fit all our china and stuff, so it worked. I never loved it and more recently I began thinking it was time to replace it. Well, that was going to cost lots of money! I gave up on the idea until I realized my friends hutch, which I absolutely loved was my ugly hutch in disguise. Yep, the exact same one!! So, I called up Daddy and he came down yesterday and helped me out!

Before:
During:
When Dad re-saw the hutch and knew my plans (to make it cute and re-finish it red), he was doubtful it would work, but worth a shot. Now, my dad has re-finished tons of furniture in his day. Taken something yucky and made it beautiful. So, whatever he said would go! He decided we weren't going to sand it or stripe, just take a rag and go for it! That's what we did and 3 hours later, a little bit of paint, some spray varnish, new drawer knobs and $24 later, I had a beautiful new hutch!

Ta-da:
Thanks Dad! It was a great day & I love my "new" hutch!

I Love Uppercase Living!!

I'm so enjoying my most recent purchase of home decor. My friend Emily just started selling Uppercase Living, which are "expressions" for your home! They are basically stickers for your walls or display boards. I am loving all of my purchases. Yes, this is a shameless plug for them! check out the site: http://enumeron.uppercaseliving.net/Home.m
I'll have to get some pictures of my friends salon, she just put one up there!!
