funny things thomas has been saying
We're still going strong on the potty training thing here. Pooping has not been mastered. This morning he pooped, but it was in his underwear. I told him if that happend, I would dump them. As I was taking them off, I reminded him of the deal. His response, "It's ok mommy, I won't yell." Then as we talked more, he stated, "I'll try harder next time, I promise."
Then yesterday, he made his first joke. I heard it from a friend who had been in Nursery with him at church. He went over to Amy and told her that his button had "broke". She, being the great friend and wonderful mommy, investigated the situation. She discovered it was fine and reassured him that all was well. He said, "No, not that one!" Pulled up his shirt and said, "Not that one, my belly button!" Then proceeded to crack himself and Amy up! He loves to make people laugh,

Had to Share it
Thomas, I apologize right now! This just had to be shared. This is one of your favorite things to do, it is done almost daily at our house and there are people that will enjoy it as much as I do.
This truly is one of his favorite things to do. Run in circles, and I've been dying to get a video to share with you all. He will either run circles around the kitchen counter or this night he chose to go around a small circle. Often times this is done in the hat with the horse, but sometimes it's just him. It has been more frequent with the rain outside. It cracks me up and it usually has him laughing by the end. Now, you have to know this doesn't just happen for one or two laps, it usually lasts for a few minutes with breaks in between to see if we are watching or to change direction and then right back to it.
Thank you, Thomas for letting me share it. (right now you like to watch it, but i know in about 10 years you won't enjoy it as much!)
More on Thomas
And here's the non-Minnie side of Thomas. The little boy that gets into everything!! He is wearing his favorite train hat, the black smudges on his face are from my eye make-up applicator and he's looking in the drawer to find a screwdriver. Apparently he had something that needed to be fixed and his screwdrivers were too big.

Thomas and His Friend
Thomas has adopted Minnie Mouse as his favorite, has to go everywhere friend. She is in a long line of favorites. We've gone through baby dog, blue blanket, buzz, mama cheetah, daddy tigger (those two at the same time) and of course Mickey & Daisy (also a pair). Those two must still be near at all times, but they can stay in the car. But Minnie has been a constant recently and it cracks me up!
Minnie actually belongs to the girls, aka his babysitters. Every time we are over at their house, she was the one he would ask to play with. Last week they said Thomas could take her home. He was so excited, but understood (I hope) that he is just borrowing her. In the meantime, he is taking her everywhere and doing everything with her.
Here's a look at just one day in the life of Thomas and Minnie:
Starting out the morning with getting Minnie stuck in the "tunnel" (now, yes he has a girlie doll, but he treats her like any boy would! although he is very protective of her and particular about how close Bailey gets to her, makes sure she doesn't get dirty and brings her to me any time she falls down)

Off in the car to go a few places, Minnie was right there with him. Notice how he is helping her keep the sun out of her eyes.

Special trip to the donut shop! He "shared" milk with her and then put her on the next table so she wouldn't get dirty.

Went to the R's house for a haircut for me and playtime with his friends. Minnie did get left in the girlie room while he went through S's transformer collection.

Minnie & Thomas got to help me do the quick trip to the grocery store. Of course she had to come in, even though it was a quick trip.

He has Minnie with the horses reigns around her neck, then threw her so she could have a ride on the horsey. I don't think it worked quite like he wanted, but they were having fun.

Now it was time to take a real ride. They made a few laps and then went back to work in the playroom.

Thomas tapped all the nail in and now it was Minnie's turn to learn. He's helping her hold the hammer so she can do it.

Love this one. This is the one he didn't want to do for me the day before. He had said, "Once upon a time I will take a picture." I guess this was the time.

It was a nice full day for the two friends. I love how much he loves Minnie, but I will admit I do wish it was Mickey. As we were leaving one store I heard a dad comment to his wife about Minnie. Yes, it's Minnie, but at least it's not a Barbie. And the one picture that didn't get taken was Minnie and Thomas shopping for a shirt for Baby Brother. That's because Thomas was so busy shopping he didn't come when he was called and I thought I had lost him! Very scary moment! He had no idea. When he did come out he proudly showed me the dinosaur shirt he found for the baby. Sweet, yeah, but boy did he get a talking to! All in all it was a great day. Thomas will have to give Minnie back next week and I'm sure she'll be replaced by something new.

More "Funny Little Things"
Thomas is such a little boy now, it's so much fun!! I love our little conversations and the imagination he is showing. Here are just some of things he's kept us laughing with lately.
*Most of his stories start with "once upon a time" and end just one sentence later. They are usually about an animal doing something.
*Daisy and Mickey go with us everywhere. He's such a sad, crabby little boy when they get left in the car. Today he picked out a Daisy Pez dispenser. I was going for Mickey, but Daisy's great, too (for a girl!). : )
*He loves to play with his friends and asks everyday who he can go play with.
* Thinks he can have candy whenever he wants. When he gets a no response he slyly pretends like he's going to take one anyways. He just sneakily smiles and looks at me to see what I'll do.
* He's afraid of, but loves monsters. Anytime they are on TV or people are talking about them he runs out of the room but quitely sneaks back so he can just barely see the TV.
* Everyday when Jared gets home Thomas tells him all about his day, with a little help from Mommy. Yesterday he was telling him about playing with a friend, he turned to me and asked what the babies name was, i answered and he turned back to Jared and told him very matter-a-factly as if Jared couldn't hear me answer.
* Yesterday after we found out we were having a boy, Jared and Thomas were discussing it in the car. He told Thomas that Auntie has a baby boy in her tummy and mommy has a baby boy in her tummy. Thomas' response was, "they're matching!"
There are so many more things, but this preggo brain leaves me forgetting the running list that was in my head... hope they come back. I've got to get these things down somewhere!!

Sassy Pants
Thomas' vocabulary is flourishing. Today is proof. Here's our conversation:
Me: Thomas sit still and eat your lunch.
Thomas: OOkkkaayyy, I heard ya. Just one time mommy, that's what daddy teach me.
We then talked about speaking respectfully to mommy, for the second time today. Always something to learn and to teach!

Just a Funny Thomas Story
Lately, Thomas has been "afraid" of loud noises. Not really afraid, just enjoying reacting and pointing out if things are "too loud."
Yesterday, we took a walk to the mailbox. Well, I walked. He took off running as soon as we got to the end of the driveway. He took off at lightening speed and ran straight towards the mailbox. He came within mere feet of reaching his destination when all of the sudden a skill saw was started up behind the fence right by the mailboxes. Thomas came to a screeching halt, turned around as fast as he could and bolted right back towards me. He had a look of fear and surprise. I, being the consoling mother that I am, burst into laughter. Thomas seeing my reaction began smiling, but kept running. When he caught up to me, I did reassure him that all was alright and it was just our nice neighbor making a project. He walked with me to the mailbox, but when the noise wouldn't stop, ran home to wait for me inside where it was quiet.
It was so funny to see his speed and course change so quickly. I love experiencing new sounds and situations with him. Thomas just jumps in full speed ahead and simply enjoys everything!

I Got Caught
*** 3 more days left to enter the giveaway. Scroll down to the next post! ***

Recently, much to my dismay, Thomas has decided he doesn't like to have his picture taken. I have to be super sneaky and totally ready. If not, whatever he is doing when that flash goes off, or he sees the camera, the cuteness is over and this crabby little boy shows up. A couple of days ago I caught him hanging out all cute in front of the mirror. He was "showing" the tools themselves in the mirror, talking to them and just cracking himself up. Of course the giveaway shot is totally blurry and the second one he's slightly crabby. Still, it was super cute to just watch him totally amuse himself and continue enjoying his tools. Which by the way are still number one on his list and he is deeply concerned because Turner has been missing for almost 24 hours now.

My Favorite

"Hop, hop jump in! Come on, let's go!"
Thomas was in need of some new big boy toys, so off we went to Target. His latest obsession is Handy Manny, he loves the tools. We had to run several errands and I left the toy shopping for very last. First we went to Lowes, where he had to check out the tool section, he was fascinated! Then on to some more errands, which he wasn't too impressed with. Finally, we made it to Target to the Handy Manny section. Best trip to Target ever. Thomas took it right off the shelf, pushed the button to make the toys sing and "hop" and then proceeded to laugh his famous belly laugh out loud. We had to keep moving so it was step, step, stop, push the button, laugh, step, step... so on through the entire store. It melted my heart as others we passed couldn't help but laugh or smile as they saw this two year old getting so much joy out of his new toy, struggling to walk, hold it and push the button all at the same time. (and it was a struggle for both of us to walk, trust me I tried to hold the toy, but he wouldn't let it go)
The toy continues to be a hit. The whole way home we sang the song it loves to sing. Thomas even gave it a hug and said, "I love my tools, they're my favorite." A phrase he has repeated several times. This morning as he woke up far too early, knocked on his door to get out and as soon as the door was open he tried to run right past me exclaiming, "MY TOOLS!!!!" (you see we had to keep them in the other room otherwise no one would have slept!)

Those Boots Again

Thomas re-discovered the rain boots and was wearing them any and everytime he got a chance. Here's a shot! (I left out the picture of minutes before. He came out from bath with a hat on, one boot and carrying the other boot, that was all he had on. Hilarious, naked booty and the boots!) The following night he once again wore them with his pj's to Bible Study.

Geese?!
Today I pulled down my street to be stopped by the geese roaming our street. This is my neighboor's front yard around 1:00 today. I think the geese got lost! We had a couple people driving slow to check them out, even the mailman thought it was pretty cool. I was so fascinated I took a ton of pics and even a video (yes, I know, I'm a dork!!) They zig-zagged their way down the whole street. They would check out a yard, not find what they were looking for, cross the street, check it out and then cross again. They obviously had one incharge and the others just followed right along. Very amusing, don't you think?! I'm just happy they didn't stay in my yard
to long, Geese poop is nasty!!

Who Taught My Child How to Do This?!

Seriously?! Or is this something 2 year olds just naturally know is hilarious? We were sitting the the floor yesturday and I looked up and this is what I saw! I couldn't stop laughing, which of course just encouraged it, which made it even funnier. So did he get this from one of his friends, a cartoon? I know the Veggies can't do this. He's not cracking on where he got it, but we sure are still laughing about it.
