Two of my favorite stories lately involve his Grandma Matlock.
He spends most Wednesday with his Grandma Matlock and they have many great adventures, read stories, visit the library and I'm pretty sure they've been to all the parks in Dixon, most in Davis and have plans to start on the Vacaville parks.
Well, a couple of weeks ago she told me about his run in with a cat in the backyard. He was enjoying his cutie (an ice cream sandwich) in the backyard and Grandma had to get something from the house. When she returned Thomas relaxed his body from his stone stiff, frozen position and burst into tears informing her that he had just seen a bobcat on the fence. She reassured him that it was just a neighborhood cat and that there were no bobcats in the area. I remember talking about bobcats in the mountains, but i'm not quite sure where he got the idea they lived in Dixon. He know laughs about this.
The other day we were turning the corner when Thomas dramatically announced that "that man was going to kill himself on that white stick!" I of course was totally taken off guard having no idea what he was talking about. He's been talking about the lines in the road, signs and different vehicles, so I had no idea what he had just seen. I asked him what he was talking about, without giving him a chance to answer and informed him that it wasn't ok to joke about or talk about people killing themselves. Thinking he was prepared to tell a story about it. Later down the road I asked what he had seen. He said, "the white stick with the smoke coming out of it." Ahh, the light bulb came on. The man was smoking. I told him that was a cigarette and asked him where he heard that. He informed me Grandma had told him.
I informed him that she was right, not knowing what else to say and how much more information was necessary. We agreed that it was yucky, he would never do that or ride a motorcycle!
When I later asked both Grandma's about this, neither one remembers the conversations but figured it was possible. Jared and I figure we could have said it as well.
These kids hear everything!!!
