Desire Shall Be for Their Husbands

Part of sins curse is stated in Genesis 3:16, "To the woman He said, 'I will greatly multiply your pain in childbirth, in pain you will bring forth children; yet your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.'"

I often find myself wondering why this is the case? Why did God have to add this to us? Wasn't a sinful nature enough to deal with? Isn't our desire for things of this world of the things from above enough? Don't we have enough struggles as women with out the desire of wanting our husbands role? Why can't we just lovingly submit? "The form and context of the word desire actually has a negative connotation--an urge to manipulate, control, or have mastery over. Because of the curse, we now have a sinful tendency to want our own way and to resist our husbands' authority. This evil desire is what poses the greatest opposition to our submission. " (taken from girltalk blog) It's not that we just don't want to submit, we want the very opposite of what we are suppose to do.

Think of it this way, when we fight against our natural and sinful desires and concur them, God is glorified! How much more is He glorified when we chose to obey Him over listening to our sinful desires/nature. He put this desire in us so we could fight it. So we could learn. So our success would be a testimony to His goodness. To His glory. When we are successful in choosing Him over our sinful nature it isn't because we've done anything right. It's because He has given us the grace and the desire to do so. All glory goes to Him!

Our great God has given us a daily opportunity to choose Him. To bring glory to Him. Oh Lord, help me to do this daily. To see out your best and your will for me!! May my actions bring you glory!
