Snow day in the sunshine

We finally took Thomas to the snow. I think he's been asking for over a year now, ever since he saw all the fun Cailou was having. We went on MLK jr day since Jared had the day off and the sun was shinning. We went with my sister and her family and so enjoyed being with them! It was a perfectly beautiful day. We took all the gear to stay warm, changes of clothes, extra socks. Everything I would need to warm back up after the miserableness of the cold and the wet. To my great surprise it was almost warm out!! Thomas was thrilled to be in a long sleeve shirt and snow pants, a hat and some gloves. He looked like he was playing at the beach as he sat there with a huge smile on his face, digging away. Benjamin seemed just as happy. He hung out in the inner tube enjoying watching everyone.

We just pulled off the freeway to a spot that wasn't too crowded and found a spot where we had to pay for parking (bummer), but they had this awesome hill to slide down. While everyone geared up, Thomas and I took off to make a few snow balls. When we re-joined everyone we headed off to the big hill.

Unfortunately, we found out, after the boys slid down, that you had to pay to rent their tubes to ride the hill.... oh well... once was enough for Thomas.

We found our own great spot and hunkered down for the next couple of hours. Thomas wanted to build a snowman and got Jared and Uncle in on the fun right away.

The two little ones were given this cozy spot. Ethan wasn't too thrilled with this idea, so I ended up holding him and sitting on the other board. Benjamin was happy to be under my sweatshirt and hang out there where he could see all the fun and chew on Uncles gloves.

Thomas found this cool cave to sit in as we were leaving. He just couldn't get enough fun!

Here we all are. You can see the swiftly running river behind just, just to the left. The hill T rode down (not the big one, but a little one in our play area) went right towards it. Thankfully it was yards and yards away and it went back up hill before he could get to it. It took awhile to convince me, but in the end I even went down. Anyhow, it was a great day and we all had fun!
