Picking Out a Tree

We have created our own family tradition of picking out a Christmas tree, which we tried really hard to break this year. I'll tell you the tradition, but first our attempt to break it.

I've always wanted to cut down a fresh tree with the family. You know, make a whole adventure out of it. Even if it costs a little bit more, it's worth it for the adventure of it all. So, off we went to Sillveyville. A tree farm not too far from here. It's set up really cute. Fresh, free popcorn and apple cider. Places for the kids to play, even a sleigh ride. They have a fresh cut lot and a you pick lot. We checked out the prices and they were pretty high. Being the cheapy's that we are we thought long and hard and walked and thought. In the end we decided we couldn't pay twice as much for a tree just to cut it down. So, I gave up on my idea and we just enjoyed the trees. Thomas loved running around them and checking out the different types. As it was getting dark soon, we encouraged him to speed back to the car so we could continue our tradition. Here are the boys in the real lot.

Then, off we headed to OSH, just up the street from our house. We have bought our trees there since Thomas was born. Really, why give that up now! They've been beautiful and they are only $25!! We had the fun at the real place and Thomas was quite content to pick one out at this lot. He and I walked all around the lot searching for the perfect tree. We finally found one that we both agreed on. After we decided I tried to convince Thomas that we needed a taller one, but he insisted that this was the perfect one!
Thomas was fascinated with the whole process and also made sure to stick really close to "our" tree.
The tree did great and looked beautiful right up to the very end! And we have plans to continue our own silly tradition of getting our tree from the OSH parking lot!
