Saying Good-Bye is Never Easy

This week a family in our church packed up their belongings and began their move to the East Coast. You've met this family, The Longs, our friends and one of Thomas' favorite little buddies. We were in faith group together, traded babysitting and just loved being around them! I love how God puts people in our lives knowing we have something to learn from them. Alexis taught me so many things I'm sure she didn't realize. How to have fun with life, laugh at the silly things, but still be serious and to deeply understand things. (I'm sure right now she's rolling her eyes at me or saying "you're giving me far too much credit, girl" -- see i got to know you pretty well!) She was the kind of friend that would send you out the door and change your child's poopy diaper, now that is a friend!! When we left Thomas with them for an evening or afternoon, we knew he would love it and get as much love there as he would with family. And there would be lots of pictures!! Thank you Long family for leaving an impression on our hearts. We'll miss you terribly, but so excited for this new phase of you life. Thomas will miss his friend and I'm sure over the next couple of weeks he will ask for his friend. So, we'll see you in blog land my friends! And hopefully on the east coast some day!

Now, these are not just the type of friends you hug good bye in a parking lot and send them on their way. No! They are moving to the other side of the continent, this called for a big send off. So big was decided to be holding big signs and waiting for them to drive by on their way to the freeway. Scott gathered all sorts of cardboard, grabbed the spray paint and made us some awesome signs, ones that they could clearly see! We got the call from Adam with a 25 minute warning and headed out to Alamo and waited. As errands, gas and the post office always do, it took a little bit longer. We didn't mind because it was so worth it to see the shock and excitment on Alexis' face as they drove by! We were at a church parking lot, so were able to get some hugs and last minute kisses for Nathan and then send them down the road. That was our true send off!!
