We're Doing Something Right

Today we had one of those moments. The ones where you laugh at your child and at yourself and think, we're doing something right. Notice, I said, laugh, not cry, not swell up with pride, but laugh! We've had moments in Thomas' young life that have brought tears to our eyes and have made us so proud. Those moments are the blessings, the little rewards. They are blessings from God reminding us it will be ok, and we're not permantely messing up our child. Then there are the moments where they copy things you've done. You see your silly little quirks in your child or even the embarassing things you wish they missed. Then there are the little everyday things that must be done that they start to imitate. Today was one of those and it made us smirk.
Here's what our amazing son has now learned to do. Thomas has figured out how to get himself water out of the refridgerator door. Last night he got a snack bowl out of the tupperware cabinet and helped himself. This morning, I gave him an actual glass and once again he helped himself. This time it was followed by a splash of water hitting the ground (I know, big surprise, he is only 20 months!!). The part that made us laugh was he went and got a towel and cleaned up his own mess. He actually found the spilled water and used the towel to clean it up. Now granted, he left some behind, but proudly cleaned it as we showed him where else it was. To that I say, we're doing something right!

Way to go Thomas!! K&J- You are doing lots of things right. I meant to tell you yesterday what a good listener he was in the church nursery. I can't believe how much he has grown since we first met. He is such a sweet little boy.

Thanks Alexis! For all the drama he causes at drop off, he seems to do pretty well. We're excited to play with Nathan in a couple of weeks. He's just the happiest little guy I've ever seen!
